Crime is Money by J3Concepts

[FO] What was your inspiration or concept behind the artwork submitted to LTD Tee? How did this artwork come to life?

[JN] Well they are smaller portions of a larger work entitled "TV Kills Everything". So I tried to stick with the theme of power, corruption, etc. These various elements all sort of came to together to illustrate that theme. That and they were fun stand alone designs, that didn't need to be part of the bigger picture to have a subtle or not so subtle message.

[FO] What artists or websites do you find inspiring? Where do you draw inspiration from? What is your favorite artwork (either your own or someone else’s)?

[JN] Normally when I'm feeling uninspired I browse www.ffffound.com or www.bloodsweatvector.com. Ffffound is great for general inspiration encompassing photography, design, fashion etc. BloodSweatVector is great for character and vector specific inspiration and is more aimed to that crowd.

Each of the five installations presents alternate incarnations of the same materials, suspended in a state of perfect equilibrium on an oversized set of hanging scales."

United Nude Shanghai - Koolhaas

“In Amsterdam, we introduced the flagship concept of the Wall of Light, in New York we featured a Lo Res Lamborghini Countach and here in Shanghai we created a shop as a robot, where shoes move around mechanically. Each shop space simply asks for, or perhaps even dictates its own customized solution,”

[FO] What was your inspiration for this artwork?

[CD] I was watching a Youtube video about crocodiles and I saw something quite vicious, they are deadly creatures despite how calm they seem. Seeing crocs, I thought about dragons and then I remembered the Paper Bag Princess and how that princess was just as scary as the Dragon. Suddenly I was inspired! I wanted to paint a girl who is seemingly sweet and innocent, just like a sleeping croc, and as charming as she is you really don't want to mess with this one! This painting is all about getting in touch with our inner crocodiles.

Artist: Oliver Hibert

Eye catching, colorful, bold, fantastic and at most times psychedelic

FO: who or what influenced this project?

OH: I've been quite inspired lately by all things dark and dangerous, touching
on reptiles, mythology and symbolism which is represented here with the
theme of the iconic Ouroboros. This piece is in connection with my recent
and current works of having the feel of a "bad trip", which is a bit of a
change for me because most of my previous work has been considered as a
"groovy trip". The psych colors and feeling will always be a big inspiration
for me but I've been intrested in playing with and mixing those colors and
feel with darker imagery and concepts.

FO: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?

OH: I don't watch a lot of TV these days, mostly movies from netflix, but not
while working.. I pretty much just crank up the tunes while making art. I
can't seem to stop listening to 60's psych-revival music from the 80's,
bands like The Revolving Paint Dream, Rain Parade, The Dukes of
Stratosphear, The 3 'O Clock, and even a little Siouxsie Sioux to name a
few.

FO: whose work is currently on your radar?

OH: Well, I like many different artists ranging in different styles for a lot
of different reasons, many current and some that have long past. Though,
currently I've been getting more and more into Egyptian art and
Hieroglyphics.
